At its April 2018 meeting, Toronto City Council approved the expansion plans of Toronto Botanical Garden. 30 acres of parkland adjacent to the present TBG will come under TBG managerial authority in a three-phase expansion over seven years. Master planning to validate TBG's proposal was undertaken by Forrec, with W. Gary Smith and Lord Cultural Resources. All parties shared the vision of a "globally acclaimed botanic garden" made possible by the unique combination of the site's ravine and tableland topography.
