LISLE, Ill. (July 24, 2024) – The Morton Arboretum has announced the appointment of Derek Stovall-Leonard as its new chief financial officer. He joined the Arboretum on July 24, reporting to President and CEO Jill Koski.

“Derek’s extensive experience with nonprofit financial management, strategic planning, and revenue generation will provide essential leadership for advancing the Arboretum’s mission and strategic goals,” Koski said.

In his new role, Stovall-Leonard will oversee the Arboretum’s financial activities while providing strategic direction across its facilities, information technology, and sustainability departments.

Stovall-Leonard was most recently chief financial officer and executive director of Converge Consulting at Forefront, the nation’s only statewide membership association for nonprofits, grantmakers, public agencies, and advisors. Previous financial roles included the American Medical Association, Abbott Laboratories, and CNA Insurance. His background includes management in the areas of financial accounting, donor and grant accounting, audit, tax, investments, information technology, legal, risk management, and relationships with all financial and technology service providers.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Temple University, a Bachelor of Science from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, and a Strategic Leadership Certification from the Penn State Executive Program.
