In Canada, transportation accounts for approximately 31% of total energy use and 37% of greenhouse gas emissions (Energy Efficiency Trends in Canada, 1990 to 2010). Natural Resources Canada works to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by informing Canadians, businesses and government institutions about fuel-efficient vehicles and driving behaviours. We also provide tools, training, and technical expertise to commercial users seeking to green their fleets and operations.
