After more than half a century in business, Takao Nursery isn’t content with playing old roles. Under president Danny Takao’s watch, the Fresno, Calif., propagator transitioned from groundcovers to native California perennials in the 1990s, and to drought-tolerant varieties in the 2000s. At Takao Nursery, family members from three generations have instilled their own ideas of how the business should be run.
