In 1995, Smithsonian Gardens opened the Butterfly Habitat Garden at the National Museum of Natural History. After twenty years, this popular landscape is being reinterpreted to become the Pollinator Garden. This change reflects the growing importance of supporting pollinator health championed by the formation of a task force by President Obama in 2014 and the implementation of the Million Pollinator Garden Challenge. As a key advocate for pollinators, Smithsonian Gardens’ rebranding of this space will help their efforts towards reaching millions of annual visitors. Learn how dynamic new interpretative panels and engaging activities will repurpose an established garden.
