Public gardens occupy a key position in supporting nationwide efforts to increase monarch butterfly populations. However, numerous questions remain to be resolved in regards to how we can best support conservation of both monarch butterflies and the plants on which they rely. Public gardens can play a critical role by increasing
our growing network of collaborations, conducting essential research on native plants, and widely disseminating accurate information to engage the public in conservation efforts. Presenters will share knowledge on monarch and milkweed conservation including issues surrounding local provenance, best methods for propagation and distribution of seeds, timing plant resources with monarch migration, and best practices in sharing scientifically accurate education and
interpretation.
