Passionate about conservation education? Come learn about a new resource from our peers at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Core Competencies for Conservation Education. Developed through a collaborative process, the Core Competencies describe key knowledge, skills, and dispositions for conservation educators. Lead author, Dr. Kathayoon Khalil, will provide an overview of the competencies, how they were developed, and how the document will be used in the zoo and aquarium education field. We’ll have time for questions to explore potential applications of the competencies for conservation education in public gardens.
Guest Presenter: Dr. Kathayoon Khalil, Vice President and Director of the Columbus Center for Wildlife Conservation, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
