We are thrilled to introduce you to Andi Pettis, QBG’s first-ever Director of Horticulture at Queens Botanical Garden.

With twenty-five years of experience working in urban and ecological horticulture, Andi is committed to connecting people with nature in the city, designing for biodiversity, and creating wildlife habitat.

Before joining us at QBG, Andi led the horticulture teams at The Trust for Governors Island and The High Line. She has also worked closely with Forest For All NYC, a coalition of organizations dedicated to building a healthy, biodiverse, robust, accessible, and resilient urban forest for New York — helping the city adapt to and mitigate climate change.

“I am thrilled to have landed at Queens Botanical Garden. The smallest of New York City’s botanical gardens, I believe QBG is the most community oriented, the most sustainable in our practices, and the most aligned with my own values. I look forward to creating a horticulture master plan and management plan, renovating and restoring historic and ecologically and culturally valuable collections and gardens, and working with this incredibly talented, innovative, and dedicated staff,” Andi shared.

We are so grateful to have Andi on the team, and we can’t wait to see her dig into new projects at the Garden, including soil science research and expanding our botanical collection!
