BOYLSTON, MA, February 3, 2026 – New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill recently announced the appointment of Matthew Krumme as Chief Operating Officer. With over 25 years of experience in operations and organizational leadership across nonprofit, cultural, and hospitality organizations, Krumme brings valuable expertise to the Garden. In this new role, he will oversee operations, facilities, visitor services, the Garden Shop, and private events, as well as manage the Garden’s outsourced food service and IT contractors.

Matt’s expertise will also help foster high-performing environments for the Garden’s team of talented staff.”
Krumme has extensive experience in organizational growth, community engagement, and strategic partnerships and has excelled at aligning mission, strategy, and resources, especially through periods of growth and transition. Before joining the Garden, Krumme served as Deputy Director at the Seacoast Science Center, where he led day-to-day operations, guided the organization through a period of transition as Interim Executive Director, and supported strategic planning and revenue growth initiatives. His previous roles include Director of Recreational Enterprises at The Trustees of Reservations, where he oversaw operations across multiple properties, and Associate Director of Business Partnerships at the California Academy of Sciences, where he managed front-of-house divisions and vendor relationships. Krumme also brings entrepreneurial experience as a chef and business owner.

Krumme is from Bedford, MA, and holds a B.S. in Hospitality Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
