Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Supervisor of Facility Maintenance oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of the Garden’s buildings, infrastructure, and grounds support systems. This role manages a team of skilled technicians and coordinates the maintenance and repair activities through outside contractors. This role ensures the Garden’s facilities remain safe, operational, and visually well-presented to support daily visitors and a robust calendar of public and private events. This position may require weekend, on-call, and variable hours as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee daily building operations across multiple facilities, including visitor centers, greenhouses, offices, and event spaces
• Support sustainability efforts through energy efficiency initiatives and waste reduction practices
• Supervise employees responsible for general maintenance, event support, and infrastructure troubleshooting, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently
• Conduct training and evaluations to maintain high performance and safety standards
• Serve as the primary liaison for all maintenance and repair contractors, including invoice processing, ensuring work aligns with Garden standards and schedules
• Troubleshoot, problem solve, and perform repairs in the field
• Monitor and respond to work requests, prioritizing issues that impact guest experience, safety, or event operations
• Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance logs, permits, and compliance documentation

Education and Experience

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years facilities maintenance experience
• One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
• Background experience in basic mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repair preferred.
• Possession of Certified Pool Operator’s license preferred, or the ability to acquire certification within 6 months of employment
• Good written and oral communication; basic computer skills
• Proficient in workplace safety measures
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and to walk/stand/bend/stoop and to physically and repeatedly walk the property for janitorial/equipment oversight and support in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver license
• Ability to pass a drug screening, physical evaluation, and background check
