Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is hiring a Paid Philanthropy Intern!
Are you a student who is interested in pursuing a career in nonprofit fundraising or nonprofit management, excited about inspiring meaningful connections among people and nature in one of the most beautiful settings in Maine, and committed to supporting the Gardens’ Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility goals?
The Philanthropy Intern will provide a student interested in pursuing a career in nonprofit fundraising and/or nonprofit management with an opportunity to work behind the scenes in one of the most successful philanthropy offices in Maine. This internship is an opportunity to learn about fundraising methods and donor interactions, and the general operations of a nonprofit organization, while providing support for a variety of special projects and forward-facing opportunities in the department.
This is a Seasonal, Full-time (40 hours per week) internship that runs 12 weeks, late May to mid-late August 2026. Start and end dates are flexible. Occasional evening availability is required.
$17.00 hourly, non-exempt
Intern housing is available for biweekly rent.
Seasonal employees receive personal and sick paid time off, paid holidays, discounts in our culinary programs and Gardenshop, and a Gardens membership.
Physical Requirements:
-This intern may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
-This position requires a combination of office duties.
-This intern must possess the physical and professional capacity for working in a variety of environments.
-Intern is responsible for their transportation to and from the workplace.

Duties & Responsibilities
-Assist the Philanthropy team in daily operations.
-Assist in the planning and implementation of philanthropy events.
-Work on projects related to donor engagement and campaign materials.
-Promote membership, interfacing with members and donors at our membership desk.
-Work collaboratively with a team of staff, interns, and volunteers.
Education and Experience
-Interest in learning about operations and fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
-Experience using Microsoft 365, specifically Excel; data entry experience is a plus.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Excellent customer service skills.
-Ability to work independently.
-Organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and pay attention to detail.
