Job Description
The Landscape and IPM technician position for Art and Wellness will focus on the overall health and well being of our plants and landscape. Utilizing various techniques and management strategies from IPM programs, the IPM technician will ensure that plants are pest free and thriving, weed control measures are administered across campus, and ecological programs are prioritized and balanced with aesthetic landscape quality standards.

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and Heartland Whole Health Institute. The role of IPM technician plays a critical role in our organization to ensure that our landscapes are kept healthy and thriving utilizing the latest information and knowledge in a complete integrated pest management (IPM) program leveraging responsible use of chemicals, cultural practices, and environmental knowledge.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Perform routine checks and audits of the landscape to identify pest, diseases, and other plant health concerns.
Develop and implement proactive IPM strategies to mitigate or resolve pest and plants health issues. Strategies may include, but are not limited to:
Pesticide applications
Fertilizer and amendment applications
Hand weeding, mulching, pruning, soil grading, and many other landscape cultural practices that affect overall health of landscape.
Track and log chemical usage through various methods of data collection.
Work on both preventative maintenance programs and reactive measures to control pests and diseases.
Perform basic soil analysis.
Partner with landscape teams on landscaping work.
Assist landscape team members during project and weather events that require additional labor resources.
Work closely with arborist teams to implement measures that affect tree health.
Clean and organize storage facilities related to chemical and fertilizer storage to make sure these spaces are kept in compliance with local ordinances and good housekeeping standards.
Assist landscape teams as needed with routine landscape work as needed to maintain general landscape quality standards across campus.
Education and Experience
Qualifications required for your success:
Well-rounded understanding of landscaping and IPM maintenance.
Technical training in integrated pest management.
A strong working knowledge and aptitude to identify irrigation system components.
Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business
General skillset with using computers and mobile tablets or similar devices to manage digital information.
Comfortable working outside in all different types of weather conditions and natural environments with rugged terrain.
Excellent people and customer service skills that are based on courtesy, respect, and approachability.
Strong organizational skills
Trouble shooting/ analyzing systems – Problem Solving Skills
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., basic computer skills
Effectively use a variety of hand and power tools
Ability to work independently and with initiative
Ability to effectively contribute to a project team dynamic
Ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality

Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment, museum spaces, construction site, classrooms, libraries, trails, and nature, and in communities served. Incumbent must meet a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, and weekends and available on-call for emergencies.
