The Dawes Arboretum is actively recruiting a full-time (40-hours per week) Grounds Technician to join our Landscape Operations & Facilities department. If you would like to work towards a mission rather than just work a job – join our team!
Your purpose as a Grounds Technician is to contribute to the maintenance and beautification of our Arboretum collection areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Perform basic and routine grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, weeding, raking, mulching, watering, and planting.
•Assist with tree and shrub removal; provide chipper support as needed.
•Operate a variety of standard equipment and tools, such as mowers, edgers, transport vehicles, etc.
•Perform invasive plant removal.
•Remove leaves, debris, and litter from Arboretum grounds.
•Assist with snow and ice removal.
•Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
•Assist in event set-up and tear-down.
Education and Experience
•High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Demonstrate a willingness to learn new grounds management techniques.
•Exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to work as a team player.
•Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
•Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and carry, push, and pull items weighing up to and including 50 lbs.
•Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.

The pay range for this non-exempt position is $15.00-$17.00.
