Job Description

Responsibilities:
Maintain and care for a wide variety of plants, flowers, trees, and landscaping features throughout the garden. Assist in planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and general garden maintenance. Water plants and monitor soil health to ensure optimal growth conditions. Keep garden areas clean and tidy, including debris removal and sweeping. Assist with pest control, disease management, and applying fertilizers as needed. Maintain garden tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition. Lead a team of passionate Volunteers at all skill levels to assist with Garden upkeep.

 

About Us

The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is a 3 acre urban oasis in the heart of South Beach, managed since 1962 by the Miami Beach Garden Conservancy. Reimagined in 2011 by the world renowned landscape architect Raymond Jungles, today the garden features a international collection of over 600 palms and trees, and was recently designated a Level II Arboretum. We have lushly planted garden beds, water features with lilies, an extensive orchid collection, and open turf, all ready for your care.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications:
Previous experience in garden or landscape maintenance, or horticulture is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and a love for plants and nature. Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude. A valid driver’s license may be required for transportation of materials, depending on the position.

 

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, and work in various physical positions. Comfortable working in all weather conditions, including sun and rain.
