Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Culinary Department is looking for Front of House Team Members!
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have great customer service experience and experience using Toast POS system. A bonus is bartending or barista experience. This position has the potential to continue through the Gardens Aglow event. Front of house employees must be adaptable, self-starters who must have cash handling experience.
This position supports the mission by using local, seasonal, and Gardens-grown ingredients and products to connect our guests to the natural world around them. Team members working in the Culinary department will provide excellent customer service to all visitors, members, employees, and volunteers while also managing a register with the Toast POS system. Team members will also focus on restocking throughout the day, serving coffee, alcohol and ringing in items from the marketplace. Team members will familiarize themselves with the Gardens to help guests with any questions about the layout and offerings.
Seasonal, Hourly, Non-exempt
$22.00/hour (Base rate: $17.00/hour + pooled tips)
20-40 Hours per week
Physical and Environmental Factors:
-Ability to stand for 8 or more hours each day.
-Bending, stooping, and reaching (occasionally over your head).
-Ability to use a stepstool.
-Ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs.

Duties & Responsibilities
-Opening and/or closing the Market and the POS, using cash management.
-Operating the POS system accurately and efficiently.
-Knowledgeable in the food offerings, beverages, and snacks in the Cafe Market.
-Brew coffee and serve alcohol from taps.
-Greet and provide excellent customer service to all visitors, members, employees, and volunteers who visit the Cafe.
-Restock merchandise promptly throughout the day.
-Keep the Market and Hot Line clean and tidy each day; maintain organization at the register and in storage areas.
-Bring questions or issues to the attention of management in a timely and appropriate manner, and share customer feedback with management.
-Support a culture that welcomes all people to the Gardens to create meaningful experiences with the natural world and the people around them.
-Continually update your knowledge and understanding of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, including the Gardens’ layout and its range of offerings, to provide accurate information and help to guests.
-Participate in Gardens-wide initiatives including Gardens Aglow assignments
Education and Experience
-Commitment to working across the organization to support the integration of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) principles into Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ internal operations and its relationships with visitors and guests.
-Previous experience using Toast POS or a similar system.
-Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, positive attitude.
-Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
-Teamwork orientation that supports and uplifts the work environment.
-Attention to detail and cleanliness.
-Ability to take initiative and work independently.
-A desire to learn more about the Gardens.
