Job Description
The Conservation Propagator at Mt. Cuba Center is a key role responsible for executing the organization’s plant propagation initiatives. This position requires a skilled practitioner who can elevate Mt. Cuba’s propagation capabilities, drive conservation outcomes, and significantly enhance our research impact through innovative approaches. The Conservation Propagator coordinates the activities necessary to source, collect, and process propagules. They work closely with the Greenhouse & Nursery Manager to create a schedule that produces plants for research programs, display, conservation partnerships, plant sales, and other mission-based needs. They manage the collection of all propagation data and develop protocols from the findings. The Conservation Propagator proactively engages with external stakeholders to collaborate on conservation propagation projects and knowledge development. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in native plant propagation and industry engagement. Working collaboratively with the Conservation and Research team, this role will be instrumental in articulating and achieving Mt. Cuba’s conservation objectives.

Education and Experience
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, botany, or related plant science field * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant propagation, conservation horticulture, or related field * Demonstrated track record of developing, executing, and documenting propagation protocols
Additional Information
About the Role: Compensation, Benefits, and Perks: Salary commensurate with experience, starting range: $57,000 – 67,000 * Full-time W-2 role requiring 40+ hours per week with a 5-day work schedule * Primarily On-Site with Occasional Remote * Most work is done on-site, but employees may work remotely occasionally as needed for special circumstances
