Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Security Services, the Assistant Manager of Security is responsible for overseeing the daily performance and efficiency of the Security Operations Center (SOC), coordinating activities with the Contract Security Supervisor, and ensuring optimal functionality of all security systems and technologies across the property. This role requires strong leadership, stellar communication skills, technical aptitude in security infrastructure, and the ability to maintain a high standard of safety and service. This position requires weekend and variable hours as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Supervise and operate the Dallas Arboretum’s Security Operations Command Center.
Monitor the activity of all security systems, including cameras, access control, fire detection hardware, and other important security architecture, and direct response as appropriate.
Perform routine dispatch operations for Garden personnel to appropriate locations for requested service and utilize communication tools to inform critical personnel of ongoing activity.
Maintain records pertinent to the general operation of the Arboretum and ensure timely updates to access control and parking.
Act as liaison with the contract security site supervisor and review security daily activity reports, incident reports, officer training, and other functions.
Assist the Director of Security as needed with security architecture, communication, and control systems as needed.
Assist the People & Culture Department with the maintenance of the access control system badge program, diagnosing problems and correcting them with the assistance of the Director of Security. Make badges as needed for employees. Run necessary Badging Reports.
Assist the Director of Security with performance monitoring of the contract security team.

Education and Experience

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

3–5 years of experience in security operations, preferably in a supervisory or SOC environment.
Strong working knowledge of electronic security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, alarm monitoring, visitor management).
Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
Proficiency with security software and reporting tools.
Prior experience managing or coordinating contract security personnel.
Relevant security or systems certifications
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends when needed
Ability to lift to 30 lbs, repetitively bend and stoop, move across property, and work in all weather conditions.
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including a criminal background check, physical evaluations, and drug screening

The physical demands or requirements described here are representative of what is expected by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job the employee should be able to:

Stand or walk in outside, non-air-conditioned spaces for extending periods.
Sit or stand at a desk for prolonged periods of time
Ability to physically oversee and inspect the facilities on property and offsite as needed.
Other duties may be assigned by a direct supervisor when necessary.
