Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is hiring a Guest Experience Team Member!
Are you a people person who loves customer service, is a good communicator, excited about inspiring meaningful connections among people and nature in one of the most beautiful settings in Maine, and committed to supporting the Gardens’ Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility goals?
The Guest Experience Team Member supports the mission by serving as an ambassador for the organization and providing guests with a warm welcome to the Gardens, introducing them to the range of services and experiences available. The Guest Experience team is often the first impression guests have of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and they provide a valuable opportunity to enrich the visitor experience through friendly, helpful, and efficient service.
$18.00 hourly, non-exempt
This is a Seasonal, Full-time (40 hours per week) position, late June through October. Hours are also available during our Gardens Aglow light show, November-December.
The work schedule in the summer includes working one weekend day per week and the flexibility to work shifts that vary in start time, 8:30-9:00 am, and end time, 5:00-6:00 pm. During Gardens Aglow, shifts are Friday – Sunday, 3:00 – 9:00 pm.
Seasonal employees receive personal and sick paid time off, paid holidays, discounts in our Culinary and Gardenshop programs, and a Gardens membership.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the work is done indoors during the regular summer season, but there are outdoor aspects to the job, which may be performed in inclement weather. The work requires standing for long periods of time with daily walking and/or driving a golf cart. During Gardens Aglow, work is indoors.

Duties & Responsibilities
-Greet guests with a welcoming, friendly demeanor and respond to any guest questions or complaints with courtesy and patience.
-Process admissions and reservations on the Point-of-Sale system.
-Count cash and process credit card payments.
-Actively engage in membership development and process membership applications.
-Assist guests with renting mobility devices such as motorized scooters and wheelchairs.
-Conduct a sweep of the Gardens at closing time and monitor parking lots to ensure all guests have left the property.
-Support a culture that welcomes all people to the Gardens and creates meaningful experiences with the natural world and the people around them.
Education and Experience
-Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, positive attitude.
-Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
-Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to communicate proficiently in English.
-Ability to comfortably interact with guests, volunteers, staff, board members, and the community, striving to exceed guest expectations and creating an exceptional experience for those visiting the Gardens.
-Ability to operate a Point-of-Sale computer and to count cash and make change.
