Jeff Jabco has been named the Executive Director of Scott Arboretum & Gardens. Prior to assuming the Executive Director role, Jeff served as the Coordinator of Horticulture and Director for Grounds for the Scott Arboretum and Swarthmore College. Jeff brings more than 35 years of experience at the Scott Arboretum to this new leadership position.

Jeff’s expertise and wealth of knowledge about the organization will guide the Arboretum through establishing a new leadership structure. Jeff’s first effort will be to lead the merging of the Scott Arboretum, a department of the College, and the College’s Grounds department into one unified department, Scott Arboretum & Gardens. In doing this, a focus will be placed on preserving the legacy of the Scott Arboretum, resolving the inefficiencies of caring for the arboretum/campus landscape in separate departments, and positioning Scott Arboretum & Gardens and Swarthmore College for a successful future.

Before coming to Swarthmore, Jeff worked for Penn State University Cooperative Extension as a horticulture agent in southeastern Pennsylvania; he also owned and operated a garden design and vegetable production business. He is a graduate of Penn State University in Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape Architecture, and a master’s degree from North Carolina State University in Horticulture/Plant Breeding and Plant Pathology.
