Montreal Botanical Garden / Jardin botanique de Montreal

Founded in 1931 by Brother Marie-Victorin, the Montreal Botanical Garden/Jardin botanique de Montréal is a large, world-renowned botanical garden located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The mission of the Montreal Botanical Garden is to conserve, develop and present living plant collections to the public, pursue research activities and educate Montreal citizens and visitors from around the world about botany and horticulture. With its collection of 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, and more than 20 thematic gardens spread out over 75 hectares (190 acres), the Montreal Botanical Garden ranks among the largest botanical gardens in the world. Among its masterpieces are the Chinese, Japanese and First Nations Gardens, which offer visitors the opportunity to discover diverse cultural and scenic experiences.
