The Botanical Garden of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia, welcomes Laura McCall as the new Director of Development and Danielle Grieser as the Capital Campaign Director.

Laura McCall
Director of Development

Laura is a strong advocate for social change and an avid believer in giving back to her community. With 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, strategic planning, grants oversight, development, and policy reform, her career has taken her to Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Charleston, WV, Asheville, NC, and Tanzania, East Africa. Beginning in 2022, she joined the UVA Medical Alumni Association as Associate Director of Annual and Reunion Giving. She also owns a writing consulting business and co-founded two nonprofits.

Laura holds a BA in Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill and both an MPA and MS from the University of Southern California. She shares her adventurous spirit with her two children and often can be found hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Danielle Grieser
Capital Campaign Director

Danielle is a fundraising professional with over a decade of museum and development experience. She most recently worked at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s home and plantation in Charlottesville, Virginia. During her time at Monticello, she secured the largest institutional grant in the organization’s 100-year history, oversaw the growth and retention of the Monticello Cabinet and Summit giving societies, and worked closely with her event colleagues to orchestrate numerous donor events, including the annual Cabinet Retreat. She previously held positions in corporate fundraising at the National Park Foundation (Washington, D.C.) and the National Building Museum (Washington, D.C.).

Danielle earned her master’s degree in Museum Studies from The George Washington University and her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Michigan. You can often find her, her double Hoo husband, and two young kids at University of Virginia baseball games and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines and Washington Nationals!
