Lake Wales, Florida – January 6, 2026 — The Board of Directors of Bok Tower Gardens today announced that David Price, Chief Executive Officer, will retire in June of this year, concluding a distinguished 39-year tenure with Bok Tower Gardens, the last 19 years as CEO and previously 20 years as Director of Horticulture.

Price joined Bok Tower Gardens in 1987 and has played a central role in advancing Edward Bok’s vision to inspire visitors to “make the world a bit better or more beautiful.” During his leadership as CEO, the Gardens experienced its most significant period of growth, including expanded garden spaces and programs, doubled attendance and membership, strengthened financial sustainability, and increased community impact.

“David’s work at Bok Tower Gardens has been transformational,” said Josh Webb, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Through vision, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our mission, he has preserved Bok Tower Gardens’ legacy and helped position the organization for long-term success. We are extraordinarily grateful for his impactful service.”

Among many accomplishments as CEO, Price helped lead a $17 million capital campaign to expand the Gardens and its reach. He also championed land preservation efforts that have protected nearly 750 acres of surrounding greenspace and scenic vistas for Bok Tower Gardens, in addition to helping found the Green Horizon Land Trust, which has preserved more than 7,000 acres of land throughout Central Florida.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Bok Tower Gardens,” said Price. “I am immensely proud of what our staff, board, volunteers, and supporters have accomplished together. I have full confidence in the Gardens’ future, and I am confident in our ability to make the next steps forward in our transition of leadership.” Price will remain in his role throughout the search to ensure continuity and a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

The Board has initiated a comprehensive succession planning process and search with the assistance of Kittleman & Associates. Kittleman will exclusively accept applications for the search.
